Well, friends, here we are once again. We look in the mirror and say to ourselves, "This is it, this is going to be MY year! I'm going to change myself and change my life!" You CAN do it - and I'm here to help you.

The simple fitness tips below are sure to help 2006 the best YEAR ever - and that means the best YOU ever!

FITNESS TIPS

*Make a hot date with your planner:
Plan your weekly workouts in your diary. You're more likely to keep to a routine it if you pre-plan the workouts rather than just doing them randomly.

*Invest in the new you:
A treadmill, stair climber, bike or some new exercise DVDs, all these items can be stored in the house for easy accessibility.
*Switch it up - cross training:
Get the most out of your workouts by switching your routine up with various forms of exercise disciplines such as Pilates, weight training, yoga, running, spinning and power walking; this will keep it fun and new.
*Balance your workouts:
Cardio 2-3 times a week and body conditioning such as Pilates, Yoga and/or weights 2 times a week.
*Split your workouts:
Mon, Wed, Fri – cardio;
Tu, Th. – conditioning.
If time is an issue (as it is with so many of us these days) see how this works for you:

10-15 minutes before the kids wake up or before you go to work.
15-30 minutes lunch time while they're taking a nap or during your lunch hour at work.
10-15 minutes after the kids go down at night or when you get home from work.

WEIGHT LOSS TIPS
Remember it’s a simple energy/balance equation, calories in and calories out.
In essence - don't over indulge. Try our balanced nutrition plan for starters.

*Be mindful of extra calorie intake
Try not to eat off your kids plates - now, don't laugh we’ve all done it. It's okay if some food ends up in the rubbish bin (some of it belongs there). Servings today are often too big anyway.

*Become a kid again
Don't just sit and watch the kids play, go run and play with them. Numerous studies suggest that a playful, light-hearted attitude does wonders for overall health and well-being.

*Find hidden opportunities to exercise
Instead of driving to the park, store or school 1 mile up the road -- try walking. Many everyday activities help to burn those calories away! Vacuum the house, clean the windows, wash the dog - whatever! - just move that body - every calorie counts!

*Play at exercise:
Sign up for a class or take up a new sport that gets you moving. You'll be having so much fun you won't even notice the inches melting away. This is especially effective if you do it with a spouse or a close friend.

Of course the most important tip of all is: CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY!

You will thank yourself for it, I promise!
Good luck and Happy New Year!!!
